The Cafe/Barista Manager is responsible for the efficient and smooth operation of the cafe, ensuring excellent customer service, managing a team of baristas, and maintaining a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for our member. This role involves a combination of leadership, customer service, and operational management.

The ideal candidate will quickly be able to adapt to the brand, values, and culture of the company, evoking passion and excitement for the process in all involved, while providing an upbeat and positive client and team experience. Because we are a small team, we all wear many hats and are happy to roll up our sleeves and lend a hand.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise baristas to ensure exceptional customer service and adherence to quality standards.
  • Create staff schedules, assign tasks, and oversee daily operations to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Foster a positive work environment, provide guidance, and resolve employee conflicts or performance issues.
  • Ensure a welcoming and comfortable environment for customers.
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and monitor stock to ensure availability of ingredients, beverages, and other items.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to maintain favorable relationships and negotiate terms.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, cleanliness standards, and food handling guidelines.
  • Develop and update menu offerings based on customer preferences and seasonal availability.
  • Price items appropriately to ensure profitability while remaining competitive in the market.
  • Monitor and analyze sales trends to identify popular items and opportunities for menu optimization.
  • Create and manage budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Generate financial reports, analyze key performance indicators, and make informed decisions to achieve financial goals.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts by collaborating on promotions, events, and social media engagement.
  • Implement strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
  • Provide ongoing training to staff on coffee preparation, customer service, and operational procedures.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and share knowledge with the team to ensure high-quality offerings.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a cafe/barista manager or in a similar supervisory role.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to create a positive customer experience.
  • Proficiency in coffee preparation techniques, beverage presentation, and menu development.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management, ordering, and cost control.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and willingness to ensure compliance.
  • Financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and analyze financial reports.
  • Effective communication skills for handling customer inquiries and staff interactions.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in hospitality or business management is a plus.

The base pay range for this position is a salary range of $65,000 - $75,000 per year. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
