This is a paid internship for a minimum of 16 weeks and must last a minimum of 80 total hours. Candidates must have current New York State residency. Please review the other Eligibility Requirements carefully before submitting an application.

Uptake Alliance is a global venture development program focused on commercializing and scaling innovative climate solutions in New York State. The program creates the market conditions for frontier climatetech companies to thrive with the latest industry connections and partnerships while helping them secure non-dilutive funding and the private capital necessary to deploy clean energy and clean transportation technologies, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and increase energy efficiency.

ADL Ventures, which operates Uptake Alliance, is not a traditional consulting firm; we are a team of entrepreneurs that constantly seek opportunities to build stronger bridges between legacy-sector clients and startup stakeholders to help critical sectors modernize. Folks with a passion for creating new business models and accelerating the commercialization of novel concepts in legacy industries perform particularly well at ADL, especially those with practical experience in our core industries and/or significant start-up exposure.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and creative Events Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in orchestrating events that effectively communicate our brand's message and engage our target audience.

Responsibilities

As an Events Coordinator at Uptake, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing a wide range of external and internal marketing events, from large-scale conferences to intimate VIP gatherings. You will collaborate closely with the marketing, partnerships, and portfolio teams to ensure each event is aligned with our brand's goals, delivering memorable experiences that drive engagement and achieve the organization’s objectives.

  • Support planning and execution of all aspects of external and internal events, including venue selection, vendor management, logistics, budgeting, and on-site coordination
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, portfolio, partnerships) to ensure event messaging and themes are consistent with brand objectives
  • Manage event timelines and ensure all milestones are met on schedule
  • Support negotiation of contracts with venues, suppliers, and contractors to ensure high-quality services while adhering to budget constraints
  • Help to develop and implement promotional strategies to maximize event attendance and engagement
  • Analyze event performance and produce detailed reports on outcomes versus objectives, providing insights for future event planning
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in event marketing

Requirements

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for negotiation
  • Creative thinker with a problem-solving attitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated and responsive, and thrives under limited guidance in uncertain situations
  • A strong and polished writing style with an advanced command of the English language
  • Ideally, a passion for enacting innovation and positive societal change in the climate sector

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this internship, you must qualify as at least one of the following:

  • An individual with current New York State residency who is currently attending or who attended a degree program at a college or university within the within the last 12 months as of the date of the intern application.
  • A New York State resident who is a member of a disadvantaged community and/or Priority Population.
