Girls Who Invest (GWI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the investment management industry by attracting and advancing women investors, changemakers, and leaders. We are changing the face of investing through education, mentoring, internships, and a supportive, motivated community and have reached over 3,200 women and non-binary individuals in just nine years. GWI runs highly competitive, application-based programs - the Summer and Online Intensive Program - for first and second-year college students of all majors. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
In just nine years, Girls Who Invest has experienced catalytic growth with over 3,200 Alumni and 130 Partners. As Girls Who Invest continues to flourish and scale, the organization is seeking an Events Consultant who will manage and drive select GWI event across the organization. The Events Consultant will project manage, coordinate, and ensure smooth event execution from all responsible parties on both the current event calendar and newly developed events, particularly for partner engagement and prospective donors.
This role will work in close collaboration across the organization with the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Communications and Marketing, Partnerships team, and Career Advancement team. The Events Consultant will serve as the lead events voice on designated events ranging from small to large scale and ensure all team members are executing their events responsibilities. This is a contract, temporary role with the potential to extend the current contract or move to an internal position in the future.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the lead coordinator and project manager on assigned GWI-wide events managed directly by Girls Who Invest and assist with events strategy and development, where appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with event coordinators at partner firms to support co-managed and co-coordinated events.
- Project manage the GWI team and individual responsibilities to keep the event on track.
- Execute and coordinate assigned GWI events from conception to day-of run-of-show to post event which includes ensuring you or a team member will produce the following:
- Booking venues, entertainment, and other vendors and serving as the primary liaison;
- Developing a detailed run-of-show, leading run throughs, and serving as the day-of point person;
- Managing production schedules, providing technical assistance at events as needed;
- Coordinating event logistics, such as staffing and volunteer assistance and training staff and volunteers;
- Managing invites and tracking RSVPs and attendance in Salesforce or other CRM system, when appropriate;
- Ensure leadership and relevant staff are prepared and briefed for every event.
- Provide strategic events recommendations for timing, planning, best practices, and potential cost savings.
- Maintain the year-long GWI events calendar, which feeds into the GWI calendar.
- Support event administration including creating and updating budgets, event storage and inventory, and other support as needed.
ABOUT THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will be an energetic, detail-oriented events professional with significant experience planning and coordinating events from start to finish.
Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in event planning, special events, or development preferably for a non-profit institution or corporation; understanding of the financial services sector is a plus.
- Demonstrated success planning both large and small-scale events.
- Excellent relationship management skills with a customer service orientation.
- Track record of successful project management with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams and competing deadlines.
- Experience with galas or fundraising events, operations for panels, and preferred vendor contacts a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to be proactive, take the initiative, have a strong sense of urgency, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior attention to detail and a proven ability to handle changing priorities across workflows with a strong problem-solving and solution-focused mindset.
- Strong communications skills both written and verbal.
- Commitment to and passion for GWI and its mission.

WORK SCHEDULE: Contract role from November 2024 – October 2025 (specific dates to be determined). Approximately 20 Hours per week (9-5 EST Operating hours) with flexibility for increased hours around larger events such as the GWI gala. Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
COMPENSATION: Current compensation offered: $55 per hour. As a contractor, this role is not eligible to participate in employee benefits.
