Temp-to-Perm, Director of People Operations 

LRN is hiring an interim Director of Global People Operations to cover a maternity leave. This position is a 6-month fixed-term contract but may turn into a permanent position.  

We are looking for someone who can hit-the-ground-running. The overarching purpose of this role is to lead a team of three in the US, Costa Rica, and India, ensure we maintain accurate people data, and optimize individual performance of managers and employees. This position reports to the Chief HR Officer. The ideal candidate will bring HR Generalist/People Operations experience, be highly organized, analytical, and solution-oriented. 

The focus of the 6-month contract will include, but is not limited, to the following:  

    • Team management  
    • Headcount management
    • Data hygiene and analysis 
    • Salary adjustments 
    • International employee relations/performance 
    • Year-end merit/bonus process 
  • Manage and coach a globally dispersed team of three HR Generalists (located in the US, Costa Rica, and India) to ensure individual career growth and enable organizational support.  
  • Manage all aspects of headcount/workforce management including forecasting and accurately tracking headcount (including employees, freelancers, and contractors) in collaboration with the Accounting/Finance team, Delivery Ops, and the Talent Acquisition team.  
  • Ensure employee data is accurate, reported timely, and linked to Domo (BI tool) or a People Ops dashboard to enable business leaders to make talent, recruiting, and org design decisions.  
  • Conduct compensation analysis including internal and external benchmarking and partnering with the Finance team to ensure we are aligned with the budget and market rates.  
  • Leverage international employment law and regulations to manage end-to-end employee performance issues for the US, EU, and LatAm.  
  • Lead the annual year-end merit/bonus process after performance ratings have been finalized. 
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data for presentations for various audiences both internally and externally.   
  • Oversee our benefits programs across 15 countries, including overseeing open enrollment for six countries. 
  • Oversee timely service to employees and managers leveraging Jira or other tracking system to manage and track employee requests.  

 

If this position turns into a permanent role, the role will expand to include the following:  

  • In the event of a corporate merger, the ability to integrate employees from a cultural, financial, comp/benefits, functional, and headcount perspective.  
  • Lead data collection and analysis for due diligence during potential M&A transactions.  
  • Design, implement and/or refine processes and practices to meet the needs of our growing company and help drive business results.  
  • Partner closely with members of the Talent Management team to link compensation, and rewards/recognition with performance management.  
  • Leverage organizational knowledge to support org design, team structures, and spans/layers to ensure team effectiveness.  
  • Oversee our benefits programs across 15 countries to ensure employee education and satisfaction with competitive offerings. 
  • In partnership with our Talent Management team, conduct information sessions to help employees and Managers understand how to best leverage ADP.   
  • Provide company-wide or region-specific communications informing colleagues of upcoming changes or enhancements to processes, including employee handbooks. 
  • Help the HR team better use data to identify, surface, and act on opportunities to enhance team effectiveness.  
  • Ensure that LRN is compliant with employment requirements across 15 countries, including managing visas.  
  • Become an ambassador of LRN’s culture, values, and behaviors. 

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources. 
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge in US and international practices, policies, and laws. 
  • 5+ years of management and leadership experience as well as a desire to develop team members. 
  • Experience with due diligence and employee integration pre-and-post M&A, a must.  
  • Proven track record of understanding business operations and how HR drives success.  
  • Proven track record of identifying operational inefficiencies and using strategic skills to design and influence appropriate solutions. 
  • Experience building and scaling processes and procedures in payroll, benefits, compensation, rewards and recognition, data and reporting, systems, workforce planning, and legal compliance. 
  • The ability to balance multiple, competing and shifting priorities and projects while making both strategic and tactical decisions to navigate sensitive or confidential issues. 
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills. Confident presenting to large groups, fellow leaders, and colleagues at all levels.  
  • Operates with a growth mindset and a proven ability to support innovation and change. 
  • Experience in fractional, temporary, temp-to-perm, or consulting roles is highly preferred.
  • Experience with SaaS companies and mix of large and small-size companies a plus.  
  • Experience with ADP is a plus.
