ABOUT ATRIA:
Atria is a membership-based preventive health care organization delivering cutting-edge primary and specialty care in New York, Palm Beach, and beyond.
We bring together a multidisciplinary team of renowned, in-house physicians to provide proactive, preventive, and precision-based care for Atria members and their families. Each member’s care is led by a dedicated Internist (Primary Care Physician) and a care team composed of Nurse Practitioners or Physician’s Assistant (Advanced Care Providers), Registered Nurse, and Care Coordinators. The member’s PCP collaborates with specialists in cardiology, neurology, pediatrics, gynecology, endocrinology, performance and movement, nutrition, integrative health, and more. Our exceptional clinicians also work closely with the 60+ members of the Atria Academy of Science & Medicine, top experts in their respective fields who provide rapid consults, support, or referrals.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a strong leader to oversee our clinical laboratory operations, based in our flagship clinic in New York City. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years experience in clinical laboratory management and operations, a proven track record of laboratory automation, and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
This position provides functional leadership and directs the training, development and supervision of all laboratory personnel and phlebotomists; plans and schedules the activities of the laboratory; assumes responsibility for the proper application of company policies and procedures; and operates the laboratory on a high quality and cost-effective basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee day-to-day operations of our clinical laboratories in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida, ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards, and within budget and timelines
- Participate in all relevant managerial decisions and guide the operations of the laboratories, ranging from selection of staff, choice of methods, vendor management, external laboratories management, purchase of equipment, quality assurance, quality control, compliance and safety
- Take responsibility for the quality and performance of the clinical laboratories for all processes ranging from specimen receiving and accessioning, to patient reporting
- Lead a team of skilled medical assistants and LPNs, write/conduct performance reviews, manage work performance, and train and develop team members
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive integration of automation, working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance laboratory workflows
- Maintain a robust quality assurance management system, ensuring accurate documentation, traceability, and adherence to SOPs
- Develop laboratory performance metrics to ensure process monitoring, efficiency, and safety
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies, including CLIA, NY Department of Health and other federal and state regulatory bodies
- Retain and maintain all documents needed for Federal/State inspections; ensure successful inspections and initiate timely remedial action as appropriate
- Monitor and manage laboratory budgets, resources, inventory, and vendors, ensuring efficient use of materials and equipment
- Manage key vendor relationships and supply contracts
- Work with sales representatives, vendors, and clients to resolve operational or technical issues
- Provide valuable input on facilities-related projects, including laboratory expansions and improvements
- Implement and coordinate Point-of-Care-Testing (POCT) at the Institute
- Ensure that each laboratory maintains certification in all testing areas and meets licensing requirements
Salary: $160,000 - $180,000
Requirements
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in clinical laboratory management & operations
- Associate of Science Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Proven track record with laboratory automation
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and quality assurance practices in a CLIA clinical laboratory setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
