Full Job Description
We are looking for a Damage Prevention Inspector for a project in New York who will be required to monitor 3rd Party excavation in proximity to underground facilities and audit completed mark outs against provided maps for all areas of the service territory.
Requirements
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- PPE must be worn at all times (i.e. safety vest, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses, and authorized clothing).
- Must always have maps in possession or have their laptop on site.
- Mark-out audits must take place on site at initial visit and documented in the ticket management system (TMS). A job site technical evaluation must be entered into system at each site.
- The DPI must ensure the contractor is taking all precautions possible and following NYS Code Rule 753 to ensure no damage to the facility when digging near underground facilities or working around exposed facilities.
- Review guidelines for safe digging practices around critical facilities (Electric & Gas).
- Patrol assigned areas to educate 3rd Party excavators, making contact and documenting discussion with notes and photos.
- Respond to excavators when they discover no marks/flags are present. Coordinate with the DP team to get a locator out to mark.
- Respond to calls on “Look out for the Mark out” and receive individuals name, company name (Excavator) and number for further follow up.
