Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Construction Superintendent to join our team in the Bronx, NY. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale civil construction projects and a strong background in working with various New York City agencies such as NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Department of Transportation (DOT), Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), and Department of Design and Construction (DDC).

Requirements

·         Project Management: Oversee all aspects of heavy civil construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

·         Team Leadership: Lead and manage on-site construction teams, including subcontractors, laborers, and other project staff. Foster a positive and productive work environment.

·         Compliance and Safety: Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Enforce safety standards and practices to maintain a safe work environment.

·         Coordination with Agencies: Liaise with NYC DEP, DOT, MTA, and DDC to ensure all project requirements and regulations are met. Facilitate inspections and approvals as needed.

·         Scheduling and Planning: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient project execution.

·         Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure that all work meets or exceeds client and regulatory standards.

·         Budget Management: Monitor project budgets, control costs, and report on financial performance. Identify and mitigate potential cost overruns.

·         Reporting: Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management, clients, and regulatory agencies. Maintain comprehensive project documentation.

Qualifications:

·         Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.

·         Agency Experience: Proven track record of working with NYC agencies such as NYC DEP, DOT, MTA, and DDC.

·         Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.

·         Certifications: Relevant certifications in construction management and safety are a plus (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, PMP).

·         Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficient in project management software and MS Office Suite.

·         Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations specific to New York City. Familiarity with union labor requirements and public works projects.

·         Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
