Computer Science Teacher

Rye Country Day School is seeking a full time Computer Science teacher beginning in September 2024. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Prek-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Specific responsibilities of the position include:

• Teach Computer Science to to students in Middle School (grades 5-8) or Upper School students (grades 9-12)
• Develop and maintain Computer Science courses and curriculum for students in Middle School (grades 5-8) or Upper School (grades 9-12), ensuring alignment with educational standards and adaptability to evolving technological advancements. 
• Serve as an advisor and participate in all school, division, and departmental meetings as well as field trips, special activities, and rotational duties
• Write student reports, as required
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and families
• Be committed to student learning, personal growth, and seek out and participate in professional growth opportunities embracing a growth mindset

Desired qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field, advanced degree preferred
• 3 - 5 years of experience teaching in a Middle or Upper school
• Experience in programming and teaching programming to Middle School or Upper School students
• Experience using Laser Cutters, 3D Printers, and a variety of design software and physical computing hardware
• Strong desire to innovate and promote student innovation in the classroom
• Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills
• A well-developed sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• An ability and willingness to support the extracurricular life of the school

Salary range: $72,000-$120,000 based on experience
