Full Job Description
The Civil Engineer will be responsible for designing and evaluating building projects based on applicable standards and codes, while closely observing ongoing construction activities to ensure compliance with contracts and regulations. The role also involves handling construction administration tasks, including generating and reviewing crucial documents like submittals, requests for information (RFIs), change orders, and payment requisitions. The engineer is expected to prepare detailed technical reports and maintain records of submissions and dates, alongside assisting in operations and cost analysis related to construction.
Additionally, the Civil Engineer will process change orders and RFIs as directed by the project manager, utilize engineering computations and analysis, and manage project scheduling effectively. Having estimating and scheduling skills will be a beneficial asset for the role.
Requirements
We are seeking a licensed Civil Engineer with 5-7 years of experience. Candidates should have a solid understanding of civil design practices, including stress, strain, and deflection, along with an in-depth knowledge of construction materials. Experience in stormwater/wastewater system design is critical.
The ideal applicant will possess excellent interpersonal, writing, and computer skills, alongside a working knowledge of cost estimating tools such as R.S. Means and MS Excel. Familiarity with construction scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) is also necessary, as is proficiency in software like AutoCAD and Adobe.
A background in building codes or code enforcement is essential, and a PE license is preferred for this position.
