Full Job Description
AAC (Advanced Automation Corporation) has immediate openings for Chinese Mandarin Foreign Language Curriculum Developers / Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in support of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC). This is a great 100% REMOTE curriculum development opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Design instructionally sound eLearning curriculum to support ILR levels 2+, 3, and 3+ listening activities for content driven language learning
- Select authentic source materials at the appropriate ILR level
- Translate content to target language and translate to English as required
- Select authentic culturally appropriate images to support content
- Develop supplementary course materials, instructor notes, and glossary
- Conduct peer reviews of similar design documents
- Convert text and audio recordings from target language to English and vice versa
- Proofread learning materials and texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
The qualifications of the subject matter experts must be in compliance with our contract:
- must be NATIVE SPEAKERS in the target language with applied linguistics background and/or teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL, TESOL) who have curriculum design experience in online teaching
- possess an expert level of knowledge and demonstrate (have a proven documented record) expertise in applying the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Proficiency Skill Levels and Text Typology for online course development
- possess at least five (5) years of experience in foreign language teaching in adult or military setting and two (2) years recent (within the last three years) experience in advanced foreign language curriculum development
- possess professional and academic experience in online foreign language teaching/ learning, curriculum development, and instructional design
- possess basic computer skills applying Web searching skills (e.g., surfing, searching, connecting to Wi-Fi network) for development-related purposes; must own a Windows based computer to perform work
- B.A./B.S. in Language, Area Studies, Education, Educational Technology, Curriculum design or other directly related discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD, PEd, or Master's Degree in Language, Area Studies, Education, Education Technology, ISD or other directly related discipline
- possess eight (8) years of experience in foreign language teaching in adult or military setting and five (5) years recent (within the last three years) experience in advanced foreign language curriculum development
- possess direct experience supporting DLIFLC, DOD and/or DOS as a language instructor, curriculum developer, ISD or SME on foreign language contracts and projects
