Requirements
What You’ll Do
As a member of the Strong Children Wellness team, you'll make a difference in the lives of children and adolescents in underserved communities. As our Child Developmental Psychologist, you will play a crucial part in evaluating and nurturing the social, emotional, and cognitive development of our young patients. Working alongside a diverse group of professionals, your role will involve conducting assessments, providing evidence-based interventions, and collaborating with caregivers and other healthcare experts to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients and their families.
A typical day in this role may include—
- Performing comprehensive developmental assessments and psychological evaluations
- Implementing evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions
- Delivering individual and group therapy sessions to children and adolescents
- Working closely with caregivers and families to establish treatment goals and plans
- Participating in team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient cases
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and progress
- Forging collaborations with external organizations and community resources
- Keeping yourself updated with the latest research and best practices in child development and psychology
Who You Are
As an enthusiastic and experienced Child Developmental Psychologist, you are genuinely passionate about empowering children to reach their fullest potential. You possess a deep understanding of child development and have acquired substantial experience in evaluating and treating various developmental and psychological concerns—you know the positive impact early intervention makes in historically marginalized communities. Your empathetic nature, patience, and ability to build strong connections with children and their families are commendable. You excel in collaborative environments and identify with the below attributes:
- Able to work onsite in Queens, NY Mon - Fri 9 - 5, with flexibility
- Doctoral degree in Developmental Psychology, Child Psychology, or a related field
- Licensed as a Psychologist in the state of New York
- Prior experience working with children and adolescents in clinical settings
- Well-versed in developmental assessments and evidence-based interventions
- Warm communication style and strong interpersonal skills
- Strong documentation and recordkeeping
- Committed to continuous professional development and staying informed about current research and best practices in child psychology
- Nice-to-have, but not required: Spanish fluency
