Our Company: BCI Brands designs, sources, and markets nationally and internationally an extensive range of women's career, casual sportswear, and dresses. Their products are sold through all primary retail distribution levels principally under various trademarks and under private label brand names.

Role: The Associate Designer will work closely with the Sr. Designer & Design Director on the development of the dress line.
Responsibilities
- Support the Design Director with the design process from initial inspiration to final prototype
- Responsible for market trend research, hand sketching, computer flat sketching, garment specifications, fit, and ensuring that product is designed to meet target customer's fit criteria based on direction from their manager.
- Work with in-house drapers and pattern makers daily on new development and production garments
- Create mood boards, analyze collections, perform competitive analysis, design concepts, presentation boards for meetings, mock-ups, color-ups, inspirational photos
- Identify and design key items with a strong brand identity
- Execute development of initial seasonal design concept in context of larger assortment and cost structure
- Create and execute the vision of the Design Director, ensuring that the product is consistent with market trends, while defining the brands’ identity and overall business strategy.
- Oversee the creation of tech packs for overseas garment development
- Provide suggestions for color ways, fabric, and trim direction
- Create design sheets for both development styles, on order styles and style adds.
- Assist Sr. Designer at fittings when needed.
Requirements
- 5-6 years of design experience
- Must have previous dress design experience
- Must have background working with contemporary brands (some examples are: Ramy Brooke, Rails, Reformation, Zimmerman, Theory, Dissh, Loewe, A.L.C, Veronica Beard, Totem, etc.)
- Very strong hand sketching skills
- Possess working knowledge of garment construction
- Proficient in sketching flats with Adobe Illustrator
- Solid understanding of Adobe Photoshop
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Self-starter and proactive worker
- Enthusiastic and team-oriented

The salary range for this full-time position is $67,600-70k, dependent upon experience.
