Responsibilities:
- Assist and support the Director for Dining Services with daily internal and external operations inclusive of campus dining as well as catering as it relates to management, oversight, and planning.
- Oversee daily tasks are completed by the food service workers.
- Understands and has working knowledge on how to use/maintain all equipment within all kitchens properly and provides training to food service staff on all equipment.
- Ensure safety and sanitation standards are met and maintained in all operations in accordance with NYC/BOH guidelines including maintaining a sanitary work environment and conforming to all local codes and policies regarding proper storage, handling and serving of food.
- Assist in hiring, evaluation and development of dining service staff in accordance with university guidelines and CBA including interviewing/selecting employees, transferring, reassigning, termination, and disciplining as needed.
- Assist in management and renegotiation of Local 100 (UNITE HERE) Collective Bargaining Agreement for Dining Service Staff.
- Assist in finance functions including budget forecasting, budget management, accounts payable, and payroll for the department.
- Assist with ordering/inventory of food, paper products, and other materials.
- Assist in management of service/maintenance agreements including scheduling and coordinating service/repairs as well as assisting with rebidding agreements to ensure greatest cost savings with highest quality of work.
- Collaborate with lateral departments to ensure efficiency.
- Collaborate with the campus community (Faculty/Staff/Students/Sisters of Charity) as well as external guests with a focus on customer service.
- Assist in preparation of reports and maintaining any records needed on a university and or governmental level
- Assist in development of menus, pricing, and community events.
- Assist in the preparation of meals when necessary.
- Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned.
- Knowledge of Local, State, Federal regulations and survey inspection process.
Requirements
- Five years of management or supervisory experience in a dining service position.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Three years of experience working in university or college dining service.
- New York City Food Service Handler Certification.
- Must have experience with purchasing, inventory, ordering and receiving.
- Knowledge and experience managing and applying kitchen sanitation and safety standards and methods.
- Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematical abilities to complete necessary reports.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and with food service management systems.
- Must be able to read and write in English.
Preferred:
- Bilingual – able to read and write in Spanish.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Service, Management, or related field.
Physical Requirements:
- Moderate physical exertion.
- Extensive walking and standing.
- Position requires mobility, occasionally climbs, crawls, stoops or otherwise works in an awkward position.
- Lifting or moving heavy parcels, machines and equipment up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis unassisted.
- Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Benefits
The allotted salary for this position is $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 annually.
