Position Overview: 

The Trainee Energy Auditor & Inspector will support ICAST’s Energy Auditing and Quality Control Inspection staff while gaining hands on field experience.  

Requirements

Must Have Qualifications:  

  • Possess a degree or certification in Energy Auditing or building Quality Control Inspections or 1 year of experience in an Energy Auditor or Inspector role.  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • BPI MF Energy Auditor Certification or Functional Knowledge of Energy Auditing principles 
  • Weatherization Program (WAP) QCI knowledge 
  • Proficiency with M365 Suit of Products (special focus on MS Excel) 
  • Firm understanding of HVAC systems in buildings, especially multifamily. 
  • Understanding of Healthy Homes assessments 
  • Strong skills in communication, documentation, and attention to detail 

Location: New Mexico + Travel within the continental United States

Travel: Travel required 75% e.g. 3 of 4 weeks per month 

Reports to: QA/QC Manager  

Skill Level: Beginner  

Education: Building Performance Institute Certifications: Energy Auditor or Quality Control Inspector or equivalent work experience 

Areas of Expertise: Building Energy Auditing, Quality Control Inspections, Weatherization Assistance Program, Energy Efficiency  

Compensation: $20-$25/hr 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Assist ICAST Technical/QCI staff in conducting Building Energy Audits in the field   
  • Assessing the energy performance of buildings. 
  • Learn how to independently perform QA/QC Inspections for Energy Efficiency projects  
  • Learn how to review MF building inspections done by Construction staff at ICAST to ensure they meet the program, customer, and ICAST requirements. 
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate reporting for all assigned projects.  

Goals:  

  • Gain appropriate certifications, experience required to independently perform EA/QCI functions within 12-18 months of joining ICAST
