Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Technical Consultant II in Carlsbad, NM.
This position is estimated to be for 550 hours between September 2024-March 2025 and can be remote with travel.

This position will support the Department of Energy Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) in Carlsbad, NM. CBFO’s mission includes management and support of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in southeastern New Mexico and the National Transuranic Waste Program (NTP). Navarro staff provides services such as: audits and assessments, security, program management, mining engineering, construction management, WIPP site operations, environmental and regulatory compliance, nuclear and industrial safety, scientific and international programs, TRU waste characterization and certification, TRU waste transportation and packaging, general business operations, information technology, document control, and executive management support.

1. Waste Management Symposia

This position will lead the effort to prepare for the 2025 Waste Management Symposia including, but not limited to, the following (approximately 15 hr/week):

• Serve as liaison between CBFO/WIPP and the WM organization.

• Assist in the preparation of presentations for various speakers.

• Edit and comment on various communication materials.

• Participate in calls with DOE-HQ communications staff.

• Coordinate with CBFO/SIMCO on various logistics for WM symposia.

• Provide regular status updates on preparation of WM materials.

2. Cleanup to Clean Energy Initiative

This position will assist with the continuation of the Cleanup to Clean Energy initiative for CBFO/WIPP including, but not limited to, the following (approximately 5 hr/week):

• Serve as liaison between CBFO/WIPP and DOE-HQ.

• Assist, as directed, to arrange community update meetings.

• Provide communication updates to various stakeholders including CBFO, elected officials and interested stakeholders.

• Participate in calls with DOE-EM to discuss C2CE topics.

• Draft communication materials as requested.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of study with 20 years of experience OR a master’s degree in an applicable field of study with 15 years of experience, OR a Ph.D. in a related discipline with 10 years of experience (as approved by the Contracting Officer).

Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
