Full Job Description
Sierra Home Health & Hospice is currently seeking a part-time Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to oversee training, scheduling, and all support services associated with our Hospice Volunteers. As a member of the Hospice IDT/IDG, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the development, direction and performance of all aspects of the Volunteer Program which supports hospice patient’s and their families. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides training and orientation for hospice volunteers
- Plans and supervises delivery of all volunteer services
- Plans and conducts volunteer support meetings
- Monitors and evaluates volunteers’ performance
- Participates in community education and public relations activities
- Designs and supervises the orientation and training of volunteers regarding hospice philosophy, policy, and practice
- Recruits, interviews and selects volunteers
- Maintains and monitors records which includes services delivered and actual time involved
- Assesses and monitors program needs and develop appropriate volunteer activity and positions
- Assigns volunteers to service on the basis of program needs and the volunteer’s interests and skills
- Documents in the patient record, in a timely fashion and in following the plan of care
- Supports agency’s philosophy, goals, objectives, mission, vision and values
- Maintains accountability in job performance and for improving job knowledge and skills
- Practices and actions reflect the Continuing Quality Improvement (CQI) recommendations and organization-wide policies and procedures
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to provide thorough training and support to Volunteer staff
- Demonstrated knowledge of the grieving process
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse ethnic and cultural population
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial issues and community resources which may assist patient
- Bereavement experience in varied multi-disciplinary settings
- Minimum two years experience in hospice and palliative care required
- Valid New Mexico driver's license and insured, reliable transportation
