Full Job Description

This part-time position provides support to rental events scheduled at the Garden Center while also protecting Council of Albuquerque Garden Clubs, Inc. (CAGC) assets. The incumbent will be available on-site during rental events. The individual in this position reports to the President of the Council; however, the Operations Manager may also provide guidance. The incumbent is expected to establish and maintain professional relationships with members of the Council leadership team, Council employees, and customers in order to contribute to the success of rental events and protect the Garden Center facility and grounds. Work in this role may be completed either during the Garden Center’s regular hours of operation but mostly on nights and weekends anytime between 7:30 am through 12:30 am. Number of hours worked weekly is dependent on the volume of rental activity.

Specific Duties:

  • Open and prepare the Garden Center for use prior to rental customers arriving, including unlocking gates and/or doors, ensuring room temperatures are appropriate, and confirming that any contracted amenities are available.
  • Welcome the renters, providing an orientation to the property, answering any immediate questions or concerns, and confirming that you will remain available and ready to help with any facility needs throughout the event.
  • Ensure that the contract security firm has arrived and is on duty before any alcohol is served.
  • Monitor activity regularly throughout the event to prevent damage to the facility, furnishings, and grounds.
  • Close down and secure the Garden Center after all event guests have departed, including ensuring heating/air conditioning controls are set correctly, turning off lights and appliances, locking all internal/external doors and gates, and alarming the building.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Outstanding verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong customer focus to ensure that all rental event customers have a positive and safe experience at the facility.
  • Effective organizational and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions and create solutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team to maintain the property in the best condition possible.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diverse set of customers.
  • Ability to manage competing requirements and adapt to rapidly-changing priorities.
  • A thorough knowledge of the Garden Center facility operations, e.g., lighting, temperature control, sound system, alarm system, etc.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
