We are seeking an Academic Advisor who is passionate about guiding students on their educational journeys and helping them achieve academic success. In this role, you will provide personalized academic advising to students, helping them navigate their course selections, understand graduation requirements, and develop strategies for achieving their academic and career goals. You will work closely with students to identify their strengths and areas for growth, offering support and resources to enhance their academic journey. Additionally, you will collaborate with teachers and administrative staff to foster a supportive environment that encourages student engagement and perseverance. The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying student needs and will provide mentorship that cultivates both academic excellence and personal development. Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one academic advising to students, guiding them on course selection and academic planning.
- Assist students in identifying their academic goals and developing a plan to achieve them.
- Monitor student progress towards academic milestones and intervene as necessary to support student success.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to create resources and programs that support students academically.
- Organize and conduct workshops on topics such as study skills, time management, and college preparation.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and academic progress, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with institutional policies.
- Act as a mentor and advocate for students, promoting a supportive and inclusive academic environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
- Experience in academic advising or a similar role, preferably in a high school or higher education setting.
- Strong understanding of academic policies, procedures, and resources available to students.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with students and families.
- Ability to empathize with and support diverse student populations, particularly in culturally sensitive contexts.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Commitment to student advocacy and creating a positive, inclusive academic environment.
