We are actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Flavorist with flexibility to be based in Olando, FL, Long Island, NY, Marlton, NJ or Indianapolis.
What you’ll be doing:
- Expertly develop flavor solutions with the voice of the customer at the forefront, including new flavor creation, and existing flavor optimization across a broad flavor portfolio.
- Support sales and marketing objectives and direct customer interaction in support of existing and new business growth opportunities.
- Understand the commercial aspects of the flavor business.
- Manage development and commercialization of flavors from bench to production.
- Support our flavor trainee program and development, and serve as a mentor to help grow their capabilities.
- Spend at least 75% of time actively involved in flavor creation to meet customer and internal project requests; recognize problems, gather and interpret significant data to find creative solutions to complex issues.
- Identify new ingredients and technologies that will provide innovative solutions to our customers and solve their challenges.
- Directly interact with customers and sales team to educate customer on flavor technologies, seek out project opportunities, and build technical to technical relationships.
- Utilize good communication skills, both written and oral; deliver presentations to customers, internal colleagues, leadership, and board of directors.
Requirements
What will you need to be successful?
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably a Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or any other relevant discipline and 10 to 15 years direct experience as a Flavor Chemist, preferably with experience with emulsions, liquid and dry flavors, and colors, and flavor applications in food and beverages
- Highly skilled in catalog of flavor raw materials and functionality, processing methods including emulsion and encapsulation technology, analytical methods, regulatory policies, raw material sourcing and quality.
- Must have effective presentation skills and the ability to explain complex matters in a way that is easy to understand.
- Excellent organoleptic skills and knowledge of sensory language required. Must possess excellent mathematical skills, reading comprehension and a proficiency in flavor, formula, documentation, and sensory computer systemsWhat will you need to be successful?
