Full Job Description

As a Meal Production Assistant, you will produce meals of the highest quality for our various programs in accordance with CFBNJ recipes, production procedures, and safety protocols. You will also provide training support to adult students enrolled in our Food Service Training Academy program to ensure a positive learning experience.

What you’ll do in your role:

  • Prepare workstations for daily use including preparing different meals according to daily meal production and preparation guidelines using various ingredients and kitchen equipment.
  • Adhere to proper food handling including sanitation, temperature, and safety procedures according to ServSafe and state guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and ensure all food, tools, and equipment items are stored properly.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork including pull sheets, invoices, and other paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Assist daily CFBNJ volunteers with supporting multiple production lines with high-volume meal output.
  • Assist in all other commissary and production line activities as needed.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role:

  • High School graduate or equivalent and at least 3 years of hands-on experience working in high volume food-service operation.
  • ServSafe® certified, or equivalent, in safe food handling (or willingness to work towards certification).
  • Ability to following recipes, use diverse cooking and preparing techniques, and to package meals.
  • Self-directed; able to multi-task and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills, high energy level, flexibility, and discretion
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity and cultural differences
  • Experience operating a pallet jack or wiliness to learn is a plus.
