Full Job Description
As a Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for the safe operation of a delivery van. In addition, our drivers must ensure all delivery loads are properly secured as applicable. By safely operating your delivery van in accordance with all traffic laws and maintaining a good driving record, you will be part of an organization which provides superior customer service to our clients. As a delivery driver, you will be the face of our company. It will be your job to consistently exceed customer expectations by making sure all orders are delivered with a smile, on time, safely, and to the right location.
Responsibilities
- Load van and deliver shipments by driving, climbing in and out of the vehicle in Miami weather conditions, and deliver shipments safely and punctually
- Checks with warehouse manager or shipping and receiving before leaving to coordinate any last-minute pick-ups or deliveries
- Checks with the warehouse each day to determine immediate needs
- Verifies that each delivery matches packing slip/location delivery
- Keeps an accurate log of daily deliveries and pick-ups
- Ensure that each delivery has recipient's signature for proof of delivery
- Unload van each night
- Turn in all paperwork (PODS, etc) at the end of each shift
- Handles basic maintenance of the van including filling tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean and making sure required inspections are performed
- Advises warehouse manager if delivery van need major repairs and maintenance
- Communicate professionally in English, both verbally and in writing
- Assist warehouse as needed with customer orders
- Maintain professional appearance
- Follow strict safety standards on and off the road
- Solve problems independently using critical thinking skills
- Have a positive can-do attitude
- Operate an electronic device for GPS and daily records
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Ability to successfully meet company compliance requirements with regards to MVR, Drug Testing and Criminal Background check
- Minimum of 2 consecutive years of verifiable driving experience with a valid driver's license
- Ability to drive a mid-to-large-sized delivery van
- Have experience driving and operating a delivery van/straight truck
- Be able to regularly lift and/or move items weighing over 50 pounds consistently over an 8-to-10-hour shift
- Appropriately handle stressful driving demands including inclement weather conditions
- Demonstrate strong communication skills
- Ability to work on the weekends as required
