About Trenton Health Team

Trenton Health Team (THT) fosters cross-sector collaboration and implements innovative projects to improve health and well-being in the greater Trenton community. Founded in 2006 as an effort to address healthcare delivery and utilization among partners including St. Francis Medical Center, Capital Health, Henry J. Austin Health Center, and the City of Trenton Department of Health and Human Services, THT is now one of four State-designated Regional Health Hubs focused on addressing the social determinants of health and achieving equitable health outcomes

THT operates with a broad understanding of what health, health equity, and well-being mean for the Trenton region. Our work shifts in response to the needs of our community and of our partners, and is based on robust data analysis. Current priorities include chronic disease management, care management for community members with complex health needs, food and housing security, maternal and child health, mental health and substance use disorder, disability services, and neighborhood revitalization. Work in these areas is carried out with a wide range of stakeholders from across the region and across sectors, including those from the more than 100 organizations that participate in our Community Advisory Board.

Why be a Data Analyst at Trenton Health Team?

As a Data Analyst at THT, you play a key role in helping to realize the organization’s goal of creating data-driven solutions for improving health and well-being in Trenton, NJ and the surrounding region. Reporting to the Director of Analytics and Insights, you provide a blend of technical and analytic expertise and empower staff from across the organization with data-related insights and tools to support decision-making processes. You partner directly with non-technical colleagues, both internal and external, to provide quantitative analysis, dashboard/scorecard development, and support for other quality improvement and program evaluation efforts. Essential Functions

  • Analyze data, as well as contribute to the design, implementation, and delivery of analytics products and services
  • Work with staff across THT to define, measure, and track key metrics that inform organizational planning and future programming
  • Organize large amounts of data and detect critical trends, patterns, and forecasts
  • Present research and analysis in written reports and internal and external presentations that are clear, concise, and easily understood by a range of audiences
  • Incorporate insights into reports and storytelling for digital and external communications
  • Leverage data from our Trenton Health Information Exchange (HIE) to drive reporting and decision making
  • Carry out organizational data documentation processes so that all staff can benefit from data and evaluation efforts
  • Identify novel public and proprietary data sources that can help inform and/or measure THT’s work
  • Support external partners with data needs and projects
  • Adhere to THT’s privacy requirements and ensure the appropriate handling of sensitive information

Additional Functions

  • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Data Analyst

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of data analysis / data science experience, ideally with research related to population health, health policy, or community development
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline
  • Demonstrated professional experience in working with data relating to one or more of public health, epidemiology, health claims, Medicaid and health insurance
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including descriptive, inferential, and predictive statistics
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following:
    • SQL queries
    • One or more statistical programming languages, such as Stata, R or Python
    • Data visualization tools such as ArcGIS and Tableau
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to ensure timely deliverables for multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Ability to organize and project manage analytics efforts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, closely as part of a small team, and also across multiple internal and external teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with electronic health record and medical claims data
  • Prior experience manipulating, processing and extracting value from large and messy datasets
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders and peers to translate findings into recommendations, especially as it relates to public policy
  • Demonstrated writing, communication, and data-driven storytelling skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience

The incumbent performs job duties in a normal business office environment in an urban community. Office tasks are generally carried out with no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands. While performing the office duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit at a desk and work with a computer for extended periods of time. Specific physical abilities required by this job include operating basic office equipment such as personal computers, copy machines, fax machines and standard office telephones.

Benefits

Full-time exempt annual salary for this position is in the range of $58,656- $60,000, commensurate with experience.
