Full Job Description

Join our team and become a part of something bigger, a force for change in the fight against hunger. The Community Foodbank of New Jersey is more than just a food bank. We champion healthier lifestyles and positively impact social and economic change. Together we can create a stronger, more resilient New Jersey for everyone! 

We are hiring undergraduate summer interns for our Hillside and Egg Harbor Township locations, to help support our programming and work on projects that help us to provide comprehensive and innovative services to neighbors in need. You will have access to opportunities for professional engagement and mentoring by our staff. The internship program will run from June 3, 2024 – August 9, 2024, and students may work up to 25 hours per week.  

These position(s) will work alongside CFBNJ staff and provide valuable hands-on experience in support of our mission job shadowing, providing administrative support, conducting data and program analysis, and supporting program execution in various areas including accounting & finance, culinary arts, human resources, marketing, network relations, operations, programs, and workforce development.   

Here's what you may do in your role:  

  • Participate in various projects to help support administrative, operations or technical functions of the role.  
  • Focus on helping CFBNJ achieve its goals through managing data, researching, and gathering documentation. 
  • Attend company functions and networking events.  
  • Train on a variety of tasks to support organizational operations in the assigned department. 
  • Focus on how our organization runs and how we support our neighbors-in-need and community partners.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role: 

  • Be a rising Junior or Senior, currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university with an interest or previous experience in a social service or non-profit setting. 
  • Use of personal vehicle is recommended for travel (as needed for the role- mileage may be reimbursed) 
  • Creative skills such as Canva, Adobe or social media are welcome. 
  • Technical aptitude (familiarity with Microsoft Outlook 365, Microsoft Teams) is essential for success. 
  • Demonstrated time management/organizational skills. 
  • Be comfortable working with diverse populations and speaking in front of groups (as needed). 
  • Bi-lingual/Multilingual language skills (English and Spanish/Creole/Bengali) is a plus.
