You would lead a group of Physical Therapists, Assistants and Aides at our South Reno clinic to ensure it runs smoothly, while providing patient care. You get the bets of both worlds! What would you do as a Physical Therapy Supervisor?

The Therapy Supervisor is responsible for therapy operations at their assigned location, including managing employees, resolving issues and complaints, and ensuring effective patient flow, as well as the clinician responsibilities of a staff therapist.

Management

  • Manage staff schedule to ensure adequate coverage and clinic flow and approve timecards accordingly;
  • Supervise and lead direct reports by motivating, inspiring, and supporting staff to a higher level of engagement, productivity, and quality outcomes;
  • Conduct performance reviews, review work and perform corrective action as necessary;
  • Provide training and other educational and development opportunities for direct reports;
  • Interview and select candidates to fill vacant support positions;
  • Resolve escalated situations as needed including complaints and incident reports from patients, direct reports, and physicians;
  • Develop and maintain effective communication within the organization;
  • Collaborate with other supervisor level staff within the organization;
  • Be a champion and a positive change agent for the organization’s mission, vision, guiding principles and initiatives. 

 

Clinical

  • Plan, prepare, and carry out individually designed programs of treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, or prevent physical dysfunction in patients;
  • Review physician’s referral and patient’s medical records and confer with patient and appropriate medical practitioners to plan, implement, and assess the intervention program;
  • Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation;
  • Test, measure and record in patient’s electronic medical record the patient’s strength, motor development, functional capacity, sensory perception, and respiratory and/or circulatory efficiency;
  • Analyze patient progress and data, record in electronic medical record and modify interventions to achieve anticipated goals and expected outcomes, including referring to other practitioners as needed;
  • Educate patients about injury prevention, ergonomics, and ways to promote health;
  • Instruct patient in use of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and canes as well as in treatment procedures to be continued at home;
  • Discharge patient from therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained; provide for appropriate follow-up care or referrals.

Requirements

Certifications/Education

  • Active Nevada Physical or Occupational Therapy license from Nevada State Board.

Experience:

  • Directing employee’s work including reviewing clinic flow and adjusting priorities;
  • Deescalating tense situations with customers;
  • Communicating effectively with all levels of employees (professional staff, managerial staff, front line staff, etc.) to resolve issues and concerns;
  • Using computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office, entering data and typing.

Preferred Qualifications - How can you set yourself apart from other applicants? (if app.)

  • Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) certification for Physical Therapists;
  • Two years of experience in an orthopedic rehabilitation setting.
