As a Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse, you would be crucial to our mission because you would care for patients before and after they have surgery, which will hopefully improve their lives and orthopedic function. On any given day, you could calm a scared patient’s nerves by explaining the surgery process or understanding and monitoring risk factors to ensure risk to the patient is minimized.

What would you do as a Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse?
This position focuses its time and effort on the following duties, though others may be required. You can expect to regularly:
- Assess the status of patients’ health;
- Explain and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure, medications, and what to expect throughout their surgical experience;
- Monitor the patient undergoing local anesthesia according to the policy and procedure;
- Appropriately document patient care, treatment process, and patient response into the electronic medical record;
- Identify potential risk to patient and take action to minimize risk;
- Understand and execute (if needed) protocol for emergency situations by knowing correct emergency procedures, location of emergency call system and location of emergency supplies and equipment;
- Perform narcotic counts and crash cart checks at the end of each surgical day;
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide optimal patient care throughout the patients’ visit.
Requirements
- Certifications/Educations:
- Active/Unrestricted Nevada Nursing License;
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS certification);
- Experience:
- One year of nursing experience
Incumbent is required to obtain the following certifications within 6 months of employment:
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS certification)
Preferred Qualifications - How can you set yourself apart from other applicants?
- One year of experience as an RN in a critical care environment.
Physical: The noise level is usually moderate. Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, and similar conditions is possible. This position requires frequently moving between patient rooms, operating rooms, etc.
Note: This position operates in a clinical environment.
