Full Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Admissions: Pre-verify insurance information for patients being referred to facility for treatment. Interviews incoming patients or relatives to obtain pertinent data and verify insurance coverage. Enters data into computer system with accuracy. Prepares and completes billing packets.
Census: Prepares and balances outpatient and inpatient daily stats and update reports accordingly.
Financial Counseling: Estimates patient responsibility and provides financial options to patients and authorized family members on admission. Set up payment arrangements with self-pay patients. Collects payments when applicable. Enter payments in online payment system.
Daily Discharges: Prepares and ensures billing packets are complete, scans and index in Doclink.
Mail: Opens all mail pertaining to the Business Office, enters comment for authorization, denials and EOB’s. Scans in Doclink and files in monthly Business Office folder.
Deposits: Prepares deposits for any cash or checks received at physical location.
Refunds: Reviews AR for overpayments and if applicable prepare patient or insurance refund.
CBO Inquires: Responds to all emails from the CBO for claim resolution in a timely manner.
Reports: Downloads reports from AIS and work in proper format.

Requirements
Knowledge and Experience:
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Two years’ healthcare experience preferred.
- Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding helpful.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing.
- CPI obtained within 60 days of hire
Skills and Abilities:
- Maintains confidentiality of patients at all times.
- Proficiency with software and/or equipment (Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.)
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work with people with a variety of background and educational levels.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, expanding organization.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:
- Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Use computer keyboard with manual and finger dexterity and wrist-finger speed sufficient to perform repetitive actions efficiently for extended periods of time.
- Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population.
- Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Perform complex mental functions and basic arithmetic functions; interpret complex laws, regulations, and policies; collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information.
- Vision: see details of objects at close range.
- Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Reach forward, up, down, and to the side.
- Sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time and come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day.
- Lift up to 30 pounds, exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently
