Full Job Description

We are seeking local dynamic and community-oriented Nevada Teacher Corps alumnus looking to expand their leadership and mentorship skills to join us as Cohort Leads. As a Cohort Lead, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting teachers through the enrollment process (the period of time between acceptance to the program and the beginning of PST) and ensuring a smooth transition into PST. This volunteer position requires a passion for education in Clark County schools, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with enrollees.

Responsibilities of Cohort Leads include:

  • Enrollment Guidance:
    • Assist teachers in navigating the enrollment process (the period of time between acceptance to the program and the beginning of PST)
    • Provide best practices and advice on how to engage with TalentLMS//Coursework/Enrollment Requirements
    • Collaborate and communicate with NTC staff to ensure a seamless enrollment experience for all participants.
  • Communication and Outreach:
    • Maintain consistent communication channels with enrolled fellows to provide updates, reminders, additional resources, and encourage them to participate in PST.
    • Engage regularly in two-way communication with program staff regarding questions and concerns.
    • Facilitate sessions to familiarize enrollees with the program structure, resources, support services, and create a sense of community. 
    • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the cohort.
    • Be an ambassador of NTC and promote the program and highlight success stories.

Time Commitment: The Cohort Lead role will begin with onboarding in mid-February, and will conclude at the beginning of Pre-Service Training in the last week of May. Cohort Leads must be able to commit to this role for the entirety of this time frame, and are encouraged to maintain connections with their cohort members through PST and beyond.

Application Process: The application process includes completing the full application and a Zoom interview with a member of Team NTC.

Deadlines: The priority deadline for this position is December 20, 2024. No applications will be accepted after January 12, 2025.

Requirements

In order to be successful in this volunteer program you must:

  • Be an alumnus of Nevada Teacher Corps
  • Be currently living in the greater Las Vegas area
  • Have at least two years of classroom experience
  • Completed and passed NTC
  • Attend Onboarding and Cohort Lead Check-In meetings 
  • Uphold our essential traits and NTC CARES Values
