Full Job Description
The Lead Technician at GLLS is responsible for overseeing and executing technical operations, ensuring smooth project delivery, and maintaining high standards of quality in LED lighting solutions. This hands-on role requires advanced technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering team collaboration. The Lead Technician will serve as a key resource for on-site installations, troubleshooting, and guiding junior technicians, while also ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards.
The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of DMX, SPI, and pixel-based lighting technologies, coupled with a solid foundation in computer networking. They will actively contribute to the team’s development by sharing knowledge and maintaining a proactive approach to learning and implementing new technologies.
Responsibilities
1. Technical Expertise & Execution
- Configure, troubleshoot, and install DMX512, SPI, and other LED lighting control systems.
- Provide advanced technical support to resolve complex issues in LED lighting and control systems.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and integrate innovative solutions into projects.
2. Project Coordination
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to plan and execute projects, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
- Support the end-to-end implementation of technical projects, including site preparation, installation, and testing.
3. Team Support & Development
- Mentor junior technicians, providing hands-on training in DMX programming, SPI integration, and LED lighting systems.
- Foster a collaborative work environment and promote continuous learning within the team.
4. On-Site Support
- Lead on-site installations, ensuring all technical requirements are met and systems are functioning properly.
- Provide real-time troubleshooting and adjustments during installations to meet project specifications.
5. Inventory & Quality Control
- Manage and maintain inventory levels to ensure the timely availability of technical components.
- Conduct quality checks on incoming and outgoing equipment and document findings.
6. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and company safety protocols during installations and warehouse operations.
- Participate in regular safety audits and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
7. Communication & Client Interaction
- Act as a technical point of contact for clients during installations and troubleshooting.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to clients and internal teams.
8. Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with sales, operations, and R&D teams to align technical execution with client needs and project goals.
Requirements
- Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications in lighting or networking are a plus.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in LED lighting systems, including DMX512, SPI, and pixel lighting technologies.
- Proficiency in using lighting software such as Madrix or similar tools.
- Solid knowledge of computer networking principles and their application in LED systems.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
- Ability to travel for on-site installations and client meetings.
- Experience with Pharos controls or Philips Dynalite products is advantageous.
