Description

As the Inventory Control Specialist, you will be a key member of the Operations team and responsible for ensuring every box and ingredient is packed correctly with the highest quality ingredients each week. Working with the on-site team at one of our 3PL warehouses, you will identify and problem-solve immediate and chronic problems to ensure consistency and quality in every box. 

The Specialist is expected to become a subject matter expert in our ERP system [Fishbowl] and successfully use data and reporting to achieve weekly KPI goals. To succeed in this position, we expect strong communication and organizational skills, experience in production, fulfillment, or inventory management, the ability to react quickly and think on your feet, dedication, resilience, and a willingness to learn on the fly. Purple Carrot HQ is in Needham, MA and this position is located on-site at our fulfillment and production partner in Las Vegas, Nevada

  • Open to candidates in the metro Las Vegas, Nevada area
  • Travel: occasional travel to other fulfillment sites locally and/or Needham, MA HQ


On the Plate 

  • Collaborate with the Inventory Manager to ensure only the highest quality product is going to our customers.
  • Uphold our inventory accuracy by verifying all stages of the inventory process, from staged ingredients to post-production returns to inventory.
  • Serve as the essential link between pick ticket processes and the 3PL operations, ensuring seamless coordination and inventory control.
  • Conduct Manufacturing Order and Sales Order closures, oversee inventory allocations and adjustments, and clear out picking locations promptly. 
  • Regularly perform cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions. 
  • Lead comprehensive end-of-month inventory counts to close each month with accurate and reliable inventory data. 
  • Lead efforts to minimize spoilage, improve inventory movements, and report on adjustments and write-offs. Initiate and implement scrap reduction strategies.
  • Collaboration with Purchasing, supporting the Purchasing team by reviewing purchase orders (POs), suggesting substitutions, and ensuring accurate receipt entries into inventory management software.
  • Become a Fishbowl system expert, utilizing it to optimize inventory levels and report critical inventory health KPIs.
  • Work closely with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and fulfillment centers to ensure inventory practices align with our operational standards and goals.
  • Prepare weekly inventory adjustment reports, conduct cycle counts, and perform end-of-month inventory verifications. Report on inventory discrepancies and spearhead scrap reduction initiatives. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Main Ingredients for the Role 

  • Minimum 2 years’ inventory control experience in a warehouse or production setting
  • Thrive in a self-directed, semi-remote environment.
  • Strong ability to work effectively in a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical environment.
  • Be comfortable with numbers and basic inventory and financial functions.
  • Available to support fulfillment operations during non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays.

Extra Special Sauce

  • Food-safe warehouse experience, with strict adherence to FEFO/FIFO.
  • Strong interpersonal and influence management skills with focus on building positive relationships with business partners and across all levels of the organization.
  • Lean and/or six sigma certifications desired.
  • Excellent communications skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media – verbal, written, etc.
  • Experience with automated pick systems.
