Company Overview:
Las Vegas Petroleum is a rapidly expanding operator of gas stations, convenience stores, and travel centers across the country. As we scale nationally, we are looking for an experienced Director of Accounting to lead our accounting team and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.
Job Overview:
The Director of Accounting will oversee the preparation and filing of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensure the timely and accurate completion of accounting processes, and lead the accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a CPA and a proven track record in financial reporting and leadership, preferably in the Travel Center/C-Store industry. This role requires a strategic mindset, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with the CFO, Controller, and external stakeholders to support the company’s financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and filing of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage the accounting team, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional development.
- Close Processes: Ensure the accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and fixed assets.
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
- Audits & Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate audits, address audit findings, and ensure SOX compliance.
- Financial Strategy: Collaborate with the CFO and Controller to develop and implement financial strategies that support business decisions.
- Financial Analysis: Provide analysis and insights to monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- External Stakeholders: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, regulators, and other financial stakeholders.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and overall efficiency.
- Industry Trends: Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in accounting and financial reporting.

Requirements
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Masters degree in Accounting desirable.
- CPA required.
- Experience:
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
- Proven experience managing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience in the Travel Center/C-Store industry is a must.
