Farris Engineering, a well-established and respected leader in the engineering industry for over 50 years, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join our team in Omaha, NE.

As an employee-owned company, we take pride in delivering quality designs and exceptional service to our clients. Our projects range from small-scale to large-scale and cover various industries including healthcare, education, commercial, government, and industrial.

As a Power Systems Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and troubleshooting of electrical power systems for a wide range of projects. You will work collaboratively with project teams to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions that meet our clients' needs.

Requirements

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze electrical power systems including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and protection systems
  • Experience in design of medium and high voltage power systems, building power, lighting, and voltage systems
  • Must understand engineering power systems and generator sizing
  • Must have a thorough understanding of sustainable design principles such as solar photo voltaic, wind electric generation.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of ground fault and arc fault safety devices.
  • Prepare technical specifications, reports, and other project deliverables
  • Coordinate with project teams and clients to ensure successful project execution
  • Perform site visits and inspections as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in power systems design
  • Proficiency in using electrical design software such as ETAP or SKM, as well as REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, and IEEE
  • Experience with power system analysis tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship
