The Strategic Planning Analyst will provide critical support for key initiatives that span our functional areas of Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product Management and Business Development to help drive growth and business results. The individual will develop a strong understanding of our markets, customers, products, applications and business partners to help improve our business performance and growth.

The position offers a broad exposure to CDC’s business leaders as well as the corporate strategy, business segments, sales organization, and corporate functions.

Requirements

· Support and participate in strategy planning which includes the development of growth initiatives, financial plans, business reviews and board-level meetings.

· Develop in coordination with sales and product managers, long-range objectives and strategic growth plans.

· Analyze adjacent and/or new market segments and make informed recommendations regarding the potential opportunity.

· Identify internal and external strategic issues that could affect growth and profitability including macroeconomic trends, competitors, and market changes.

· Work with world area teams to collect market intelligence and trends.

· Build and maintain a model of competitive participation in markets and geographies by product segment.

· Analyze macroeconomic indicators and develop methods to help assess global business performance and forecasting.

· Support business leadership team with business development analyses and growth planning initiatives.

· Provide monthly sales commentary and industry trends to support business review meetings.

· Participate in the development of analytical tools and dashboards to support the sales organization

· Research potential new business opportunities and emerging market trends to identify organic and inorganic growth strategies.

· Study markets, customers, channels, product positioning, product gaps and develop business cases to help prioritize opportunities. 

· Monitor the external business environment (market and competition) and look for growth opportunities that support our objectives.

· Set priorities and coordinate planning activities across all Business Units.

· Serve as strategic liaison to support business leaders with analysis of sales trends, pricing analysis, market trends and competitive information. 

· Develop methods and strategies for collecting the voice of customer (VOC) and sales-related data.

· Perform other duties as assigned, based on workload and business need.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

· Minimum 2 years’ applicable work experience.

· Experience in consulting, strategic planning and/or business development is preferred.

TECHNICAL/FUNCTION SPECIFIC:

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Access.

· Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to think creatively.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.

· Ability to bring a measured, data-driven approach to a range of high-priority and high-impact projects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Sufficient manual dexterity to successfully use a computer.

· Ability to sit for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours per day, though possibly more.

· Sometimes required to stand and/or walk, up to 1 hour per day, or make occasional trips from the office area to the manufacturing area.

· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds independently, as needed.

· Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment when in the manufacturing area, including, but not limited to, safety glasses and safety shoes.
