Position Summary
Swank Motion Pictures helps spread the magic of movies and TV shows beyond homes and theaters. Our business is the licensing and distribution of content to non-theatrical markets like worldwide cruise lines, U.S. colleges and universities, K-12 public schools and libraries, hospitals, motor coaches, Amtrak trains, correctional facilities and other markets such as parks, art museums and businesses. In fact, we’ve been bringing movies and TV shows to more people in more places since 1937.
Swank is seeking a Staff Accountant to play a vital role within the Accounting team, collaborating closely with the Controller and CFO on various financial matters. This position will oversee key markets and assume responsibility for all aspects within their book of business including being the primary point of contact for market leaders. Key functions of this role will include general accounting, budgeting, ad-hoc analysis, and month close journal entries.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and complete monthly journal entries
- Conduct financial statement preparation
- Perform general ledger reconciliations
- Manage and calculate deferred revenue
- Support market leaders with financial statement reviews and ad hoc analysis
- Assist with annual audits and bank compliance reporting
- Review general ledger coding
- Prepare annual budgets
- Support Controller with France subsidiary accounting and financial statement preparation
- Manage Accounts Payable contract management and procurement process
- Oversee studio royalty payment process
- Assist with Accounts Payable and sales tax as needed
- Handle cash management – ACH payments, positive pay, ACH exceptions
- Manage American Express credit card accounts
- Oversee Concur (BOA credit card) management
- Conduct new vendor review and reporting
- Assist with unclaimed property matters
- Oversee accounting for lease management business
- Undertake other projects/tasks as assigned based on needs
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field required
- Master’s degree preferred, but not mandatory
- 3+ years of prior accounting experience
- Substantial experience with an ERP system (G/L, A/P, A/R, etc.), with NetSuite and QuickBooks experience a plus
- Must be highly organized, attentive to detail and proactive
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information
- Proficient in multitasking and adapting to frequently changing priorities while meeting deadlines
- Clear communication skills in both written and verbal correspondence
- Commitment to detailed financial accounting and reporting
- Understanding that individual priorities may be superseded by customer needs and company objectives
- Willingness to undertake additional projects/tasks as assigned based on needs
