Full Job Description
Build engineer needed for assembling/configuring/testing computer servers (mostly Linux-based).
We are a leading hardware and software solutions provider to the professional media and entertainment industry. The products we create are used 24x7 around the world to make movies, music, and TV/internet content.
In this role you will be building a lot of large servers, helping to test hardware and software that we create, shipping/receiving orders, and other various duties in our lab and assembly area. You should be familiar with the latest PC hardware and integration of CPUs, system boards, disk technology, etc.
You must be fast paced, energetic, ** IMPECCABLY ORGANIZED **, and ready to roll up your sleeves.
This is a diverse position that requires wearing multiple hats. Here's a short list of what you'd be doing:
- Building and configuring servers and workstations
- Installing operating systems and applications
- Helping to test and troubleshoot our products
- Maintaining work areas (assembly, inventory, office) so they're very neat and organized
- Inventory management: receiving/shipping computer components, order fulfillment
- Documenting manufacturer part numbers, serial numbers, and test results
- Filing and maintaining customer order and shipping records
- Occasionally processing broken systems (receiving, diagnosing, repairing, validating)
Requirements
We're willing to train the right person, but it would be great if you already have:
- Good knowledge of current PC hardware components
- Experience assembling computers
- Experience with Linux
- A serious interest in learning a lot more about the other stuff that's mentioned in this posting
Other things that may help you land this position and excel in our company:
- You have shell scripting experience with bash
- You have some programming experience
- You have a great attitude and sense of humor
- You have experience with Mac hardware and macOS
- You have experience with RAID, storage subsystems, NAS, or networking
- You have knowledge of professional video editing applications

- Very strong organizational and communication skills
- Very high energy level and the ability to channel it into your work
- Ability to routinely lift, carry, and rack a 3U server
