TPAPT is a consortium of over 12,000 local teachers, tutors, and test prep professionals and we are looking for Middle School ELA Teachers to work with small group classes at local schools.
We are seeking a passionate, experienced middle school ELA teacher who thrives in the classroom environment. You must have a child-centered approach and be able to create a safe well-ordered classroom. You must have a solid understanding of the national curriculum standards and have experience closing the achievement gap, and you must also develop engaging and innovative lessons that allow our students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. You are someone who incorporates technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom with enthusiasm. The ideal candidate also believes in collaboration with other colleagues and promotes understanding and communication in a diverse learning and cultural environment.
Specifics:
- Middle School ELA Teacher
- Location: St. Louis, MO
- Schedule: M through F 7am-3pm
- Start Date: 8/6/2024
- Pay Range: $24-$25/hour (potential for salaried)
Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for instructional planning, including, but not limited to, providing written lesson plans and preparation in accordance with the objectives of the instructional program.
- Establishing positive learning expectation standards for all students.
- Evaluating students’ progress and maintaining current and accurate records of students’ achievements.
- Implement instructional methods, drawing from a range of instructional materials available in the school.
- Establishes and maintains reasonable rules of conduct within the classroom and on the school grounds.
- Encourages student growth.
- Ensures fairness in teacher-student relationships and exhibits an understanding and respect for students.
- Initiates appropriate meetings with parents/guardians and administrators.
- Communicates with parents/guardians on student’s academic progress, attendance, and conduct.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Must love working with children.
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must have experience working with children.
- Ability to communicate effectively and often with parents and families.
- Strong instructional skills and classroom management.
- Enthusiasm for and demonstrated mastery of subject matter.
- Unrelenting commitment to students, self, and school’s constant learning and development.
- Ability to self-reflect on teaching practices and be responsive to feedback.
