Controller - Fintech

As our company rapidly expands, we're in search of a Controller who is ready to take on the challenge of managing our financial operations with precision and insight. Reporting to the COO, the Controller will be responsible to manage all accounting and finance operations.

Duties for the financial controller will include maintaining up-to-date accounting records, ensuring accuracy of financial information, publishing financial statements, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, analyzing financial data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting and coordinating auditing processes. We highly value candidates with previous experience working with large debt facility providers and VC investor reporting.

What You’ll Do: 

• Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions 
• Prepare monthly financial reporting for leadership team, company investors and debt capital providers. 
• Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results across multiple entities 
• Coordinate activities to ensuring timely completion of annual tax filings and audits 
• Develop and maintain cash forecasts and budgets 
• Evaluate current accounting operations and internal control systems. Offer recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes 
• Develop and monitor business performance metrics 
• Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance 
• Manage junior accounting staff and third-party service providers 
• Work closely with leadership team to ensure company goals are met

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting, CPA highly preferred. 
• At least 5 years as a finance operation executive preferably in a fintech or financial services environment 
• Experience or capability to lead all facets of the finance function in a rapidly growing company 
• Technical knowledge of loan accounting and management practices 
• Strong working knowledge of software including QBO, Expensify and Bill.com. Proficiency with financial modeling in Excel 
• Proven success developing new accounting and finance processes 
• Demonstrated ability to manage and complete complex projects on time 
• Experience leading a junior team from hiring, onboarding, development to high levels of performance. 
• Must have an appetite to acquire new knowledge and skills quickly and independently 
• Ideal candidates will be excited by the startup environment and will have experience building financial operations from startup through growth phase 
• Experience with lending operations and structured finance is a plus
