Teacher Assistant

Holmes County Consolidated School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher Assistant to support our educators in creating an enriching and supportive learning environment for our students. As a pivotal member of our educational team, you will work closely with teachers to provide individualized support to students, facilitate classroom activities, and assist in maintaining a positive and productive classroom atmosphere. Your role will include helping with lesson preparation, supervising students during various activities, and fostering an inclusive environment that promotes student engagement and success. By working alongside experienced educators, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into teaching practices and play a critical role in enhancing student learning experiences.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and organizing classrooms.
• Provide support to students during lessons, including individual or small group assistance.
• Monitor student behavior and help maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Assist in the implementation of various educational activities and lesson plans.
• Perform administrative tasks such as grading assignments and maintaining student records.
• Help supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom activities.
• Communicate effectively with teachers and staff regarding student needs and progress.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education preferred.
• Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to various classroom situations and student needs.
• Basic proficiency in using educational technology and tools.
