Whole Family Program Manager

Pay: $ 57,000 - 62,000 based on experience

Location/Remote Capabilities:   This position is a hybrid position. You will be able to work remotely 2 days per week and 3 days in-office at our St. Paul location

Job Purpose : You are detail-oriented, enjoy working with a variety of teams and personalities, and believe strongly in keeping people and pets together. You oversee administrative work, support strategic partnerships, pilot program implementation, and evaluate program impact during the term of the Whole Family project, lasting through February 2027.

Grant Information: Animal Humane Society received a significant grant for the project “Serving the Whole Family in Animal Welfare and Social Services.” This project – which we’re calling “Whole Family” for short — examines how AHS serves the entire family unit, both people and pets. We’ll be collaborating with human social services agencies to expand our existing Community Outreach programs in food distribution, access to veterinary care, and transitional housing. Our goal is to create a new understanding of how organizations can work together and affect change. The Whole Family project is founded on our belief that pets are family. This belief underpins all the work we do at AHS to keep people and pets together.

What you will be doing:

Support – Manage the Whole Family initiative during the grant-funded timeline to achieve project goals. Establish and maintain deadlines, own outcomes, work collaboratively, and hold yourself and other stakeholders accountable. Manage resources responsibly and assist in tracking the grant budget.

Strategy – Work with the Community Outreach team to develop a partnership plan with human social services agencies. Integrate community needs assessment findings into that plan.

Analysis – Create and implement qualitative and quantitative data tracking methods that will be used to support learnings from this project throughout its phases. Compile learning and identify opportunities to share with animal welfare and human social services organizations.

Collaboration – Work in partnership with internal teams including, Community Outreach, Veterinary Services, and Veterinary Center, as well as external community partners to meet the goals of the project and further the mission.

Communication – Listen, pay attention, and be a responsible steward of information. Distill and convey information in a clear, complete, and timely manner in alignment with grant requirements and organizational messaging.

Culture – Foster an open and inclusive work environment by modeling AHS Behaviors and values, consistent with the vision and mission of the organization. Maintain a safe work environment by following AHS protocols and policies. Work with AHS volunteers in a positive and effective way to advance the mission of AHS and facilitate meaningful volunteer engagement.

Requirements

What we are looking for:

Experience – Demonstrated experience in program budgeting, project planning, and grant administration. Demonstrated experience in working in and engaging diverse and under-served communities. Knowledge of and/or experience in animal welfare, social services, welfare, mental health and/or criminal justice systems.

Communication – Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, must have ability to work independently and partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments. Ability to communicate in Spanish, Hmong and/or Somali strongly preferred.  

Computer Skills – Proficient with computers, specifically, a working knowledge of Microsoft products.

Schedule –  Availability to work during operational hours with the expectation to work varied hours including occasional evening and weekend shifts.

Adaptability –  Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations.

Emotional Capabilities – Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the humane use of euthanasia. Must have a high level of resiliency.

The person in this position will have the opportunity to work in an office/remote hybrid role. Access to reliable internet, ability to prioritize work independently, and foster relationships while working in a hybrid (remote and in-person) environment required. Must live in or have easy access to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and be available for frequent face-to-face interactions in Minneapolis/St. Paul and greater Minnesota regions.
