Special Education Teacher Assistant

Description

Seven Hills seeks a full-time Special Education Teacher Assistant at its Richfield Campus for the 2024-2025 school year. The primary duties of this position involve being able assist students with special needs in daily learning activities and care for their physical and emotional health, affirm their abilities, and strive to promote dignity in all relationships.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Special Education Coordinator and the Administrative Leadership Team (ALT).

Key Responsibilities

●        Support students with achieving academic success.

●        Utilize various techniques to be successful with managing students.

●        Assist the teacher in modifying materials to meet the specific needs of a student.

●        Take necessary precautions to protect students.

●        Communicate with students and help them understand lessons.

●        Provide behavioral support to students, which may include physical management and the utilization of nonviolent crisis prevention techniques.

●        Consult and collaborate with special education and general education teachers. 

●        Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus.

Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

●        Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.

●        Promptly return phone calls and answer emails.

●        Participate in appropriate professional development activities.

●        Other duties as assigned.
