Full Job Description
The Materials Planner at New Flyer will be responsible for ensuring the availability of materials and parts for production, while minimizing inventory costs and maintaining optimum inventory levels. This role requires effective coordination with suppliers, production teams, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials and smooth production operations.
- Create and maintain material procurement and production schedules based on production plans and customer demand.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any supply chain disruptions.
- Monitor inventory levels and analyze demand trends to optimize inventory, reduce costs, and prevent shortages.
- Collaborate with production teams to forecast material requirements and adjust schedules as needed.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance materials planning and procurement processes.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions and update inventory management systems.
- Work closely with procurement teams to identify potential suppliers and negotiate contracts.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance, including delivery performance and quality of materials.
- Resolve any materials-related issues or discrepancies, including non-conforming materials or discrepancies in quantities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in materials planning and supply chain management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in materials planning or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and MS Office tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in recording and analyzing data.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
