Job Summary: Under the direction of the Program Director, Financial Opportunity Programs, the Lead Financial Services Specialist is responsible for researching, coordinating, and implementing financial programs including Car Ownership/Car Repair, Financial Assets for Independence in Minnesota (FAIM), and financial literacy. This position is also responsible for data management, including data entry, analysis, reporting, and monitoring of data for all financial services to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Essential Functions (Not All Inclusive):

Duties and Responsibilities:

Training

  • Lead financial literacy/asset building training initiative: Plan, develop, deliver and/or coordinate delivery of financial literacy and asset building workshops and trainings for participants and staff. 
  • Train the trainer: Train other staff, both within FOP department and the wider agency, on facilitating financial literacy and asset building training and workshops as needed

Participant Management

    • Provide coaching, case management, service support, and resource navigation to individuals and/or families participating in financial asset building programs (ie: car ownership/car repair, FAIM, financial literacy, etc.)
    • Provide personal coaching to individuals and/or families participating in financial asset building programs (ie: car ownership/car repair, FAIM, financial literacy, etc.) to assist them in creating and obtaining identified financial goals.

Program Management, Outreach, Evaluation and Growth

    • Maintain accurate and complete records for all participants to document application and eligibility as well as track and report program services received, outcomes achieved, and ongoing impact on individuals/families/communities served.
    • Provide monthly, quarterly and annual program outcome reports.
    • Research and develop financial literacy trainings and tools.
    • Maintain and support the program through coordination of office systems, databases, and file maintenance.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (7 years combination)  to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Abilities and Skills: In order to be successful in this position, the person will at minimum need to possess the following abilities and skills:

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of interviewing coaching and assessment skills.
  • Experience in financial services and/or asset building.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including collaborating with a team, working across program areas, disseminating information effectively and conflict resolution.
  • Experience interacting with individuals from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Experience facilitating adult group learning required.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Public speaking skills preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office {Word, Excel) and Google Docs/Gmail strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources preferred.
  • Must be able to handle difficult customers and respond to their complaints or situations.
  • Ability to develop, implement and monitor program information and/or client outcomes and manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Must have strong computer records management experience and sufficient skills to master the basics of report generation.

Core Technology Competency: Level 2 - Intermediate 1

Driver's License: A valid driver's license and reliable transportation on a daily basis is required.

Physical Requirements: Normal physical exertion required.

Mental Requirements: This position requires an awareness of deadlines, the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, and the ability to function independently.

Environmental Requirements: Normal office environment.1 day a week remote. Weekends and evenings as needed some offsite work as needed related to training and facilitating

Schedule: Up to 40 Hours/Week, M-F, Full Year, Regular

Starting Salary Range: $26.71/hr - $30.04/hr
