Full Job Description
Position Summary: Ensures Fresh Eye Gallery runs effectively and efficiently in collaboration with the Director of Arts Development. This includes overseeing exhibitions and events, managing inventory and sales, creating and implementing communications and promotional materials, supporting development initiatives, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the space. This position reports to the Director of Arts Development.
Fresh Eye Arts and Gallery are programs of MSS.
Essential Job Duties:
· Coordinate and plan 7-9 exhibitions a year in collaboration with the Dir. of Arts Development
· Send artist communications, gallery newsletter, and serve as the primary gallery contact
· Manage gallery email account and correspondence
· Prepare, collect, and document artist contracts and agreements; track artist payments, process monthly sales log in collaboration with accounting supervisor
· Coordinating artwork drop off and pickup; coordinate shipping and receiving
· Assist with exhibition installation including signage, gallery tags, didactics, and handouts.
· Maintain the website including exhibition and event info, blog posts, online store, video walkthroughs
· Create social media content - editing photos/video clips, writing captions and image descriptions
· Design graphics for exhibitions, special events, fundraising initiatives
· Manage gift shop curation with a refresh triannually
· Assist with fundraising initiatives including events and online auction
· Staff Fresh Eye gallery for all public hours and greeting visitors. Assist with day-to-day gallery upkeep
· Staff, prepare, and set up for gallery events
· May provide direction to volunteers as needed
· Assist with other duties as needed at the request of the Director of Arts Development
This position will work 24-25 hours a week. The typical schedule for this position will be Thursdays and Fridays from 11am-6pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-4pm. The schedule will flex when there are show and exhibition installations as well as events, so must have flexibility to work outside of these hours as needed (i.e. Mondays, Tuesdays, evenings, etc).
The deadline to submit applications is January 19th. All applications will be reviewed after January 19th.
Be prepared to share samples of your artwork, graphic design, or anything else to demonstrate your skills.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Knowledge of, and experience in, a relevant field such as arts administration or studio art. Must have an interest in supporting artists with disabilities and progressive art studios. Must have excellent written and verbal skills, customer service skills, strong attention to detail and follow through, is dependable, and ability to work with a variety of people with varying communication skills is required. Working knowledge of Squarespace, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Meta Business Suite is plus. Proficient in communications related tasks. Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the terms set by our insurance carrier. Must pass a DHS background check and other criminal background checks as determined by MSS.
