Full Job Description
As an employee, the Fitness Center Manager will support the mission, vision, and values of HealthSource Solutions and be familiar with and abide by all HealthSource Solutions policies and procedures. This individual interacts directly with students and faculty fitness center members. Responsiveness to customer needs and interests is essential. The Wellness Program Manager supervises part-time lifeguards, intermural specialists, and specialty group exercise instructors who provide a variety of center services to individuals and groups. Regular communication and responsiveness to these employees’ needs are important.
The Fitness Center Manager is responsible for the fitness center operations, including the supervision of staff, oversight of the facility, development and management of policies and procedures, and promotion of the facility and services.
Schedule may vary: 40 hrs. per week
*Desired availability would be early start (6-7 am) 2-3 days per week and late evening end (6-8 pm) 2-3 days per week.
Qualifications:
- Education: Four-year degree in health promotion, kinesiology, exercise physiology, recreation, or a closely related field is required
- Experience: At least three years experience in the field, experience in higher-level education is preferred
- Special Knowledge:
- Ability to lead a variety of group exercise classes is required
- Strong technical knowledge in exercise prescription and education
- Good understanding of general health topics and worksite health promotion processes.
- Ability to utilize a variety of standard office software, such as MS Office, as well as specific fitness center software is also required
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Lead planning and implementation process for client fitness center programs and activities; including coordination of intermural activities
- Provide individual exercise education and coaching to center members, including Inbody Assessments
- Provide group health and fitness educational and behavior change programs
- Integrate fitness center initiatives with other client health programming
- Lead a variety of group fitness classes
- Oversee the fitness center facility and pool, including equipment maintenance and service agreements as well as facility cleanliness
- Implement procedures for member management for the fitness center
- Work formally and informally to promote the center and represent the center in the best possible light
- Supervise health professionals at the fitness center – Student Lifeguards, Intermural Specialists, Specialty Group Exercise Instructors
- Drive quality improvement efforts for the fitness center
- Ensure the safety of fitness center members and the fitness center services team

- Salary range $52,000 - $56,000

Requirements
- CPR/AED Certification i
- Group Exercise Certification is preferred – i.e., ACE Group Exercise Instructor or specialty format such as Zumba, Spin, Barre, Yoga, etc.
- Fitness/Health-Related Certification from a recognized certifying body is preferred – i.e., ACSM Personal Training, ACE Health Coach, NSCA CSCS, NASM CES, etc.
