Full Job Description

The Clinical Lead Mental Health Practitioner will provide professional, quality program services to the persons served by the Main Street Housing - Higher Ground St. Paul team. This program provides supportive housing services collaboratively with Catholic Charities staff. Staff are co-located with CC staff at the Higher Ground St. Paul site. This individual will provide direction on the day-to-day management of the program and work with other members of the team to assist persons served in obtaining and maintaining an optimum quality of life consistent with individual needs and preferences. Emphasis is placed on working with persons served in a residential setting. Our primary goals are to maintain a safe and secure milieu, to assess collaboratively with each individual what supports are needed to help maintain housing, to work with each individual to formulate a person-centered goal plan, and to either provide those supports directly to each person or seek out outside providers who can more effectively assist in this manner.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct the day-to-day administrative operations of Main Street Housing - Higher Ground St. Paul including scheduling staff work hours to assure appropriate coverage for day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts; approving and adjusting PTO of staff; and continuously evaluating the status of clients and doing appropriate planning and coordination of treatment activities to ensure immediate attention to their changing needs.
  • Collaborate with Catholic Charities Higher Ground St. Paul support and property management staff in the development of programming and workflow that allows for adherence to the Housing First model.
  • Assign clients to primary Mental Health Practitioners.
  • Coordinate discharge planning with staff and outside providers.
  • In concert with the Associate Director, coordinate and review all client-centered goal plans, crisis plans and progress notes.  Train staff on the development and maintenance of all documentation and reports.
  • Coordinate ongoing communication with client case managers and other outside providers in concert with the practitioner team.
  • In concert with the Associate Director, coordinate outcome data collection and reporting.
  • Direct the orientation of new staff and coordinate ongoing training for staff.
  • Participate actively in on-going professional growth and development including attending trainings and collaborative meetings with other homeless providers; maintain appropriate professional behavior and participate in appropriate supervision.
  • Oversee client fund budgets including writing checks, entering checks into QuickBooks, and tracking budget expenditures.
  • Direct the stocking and acquisition of office and other supplies.
  • Provide direct services to the residents.
  • Teach and develop independent living and coping skills (relaxation, conversation skills, housekeeping, budgeting, etc.) with the persons served.
  • Identify individuals prone to having behavior emergencies and coordinate developing additional programming appropriate for their needs.
  • Defuse and de-escalate any potential behavior emergencies and develop additional programming appropriate for the person's needs.
  • Responsible for providing staff coverage in order to adequately support the persons served.
  • Work effectively and professionally with other treatment team members.
  • Attend all team meetings as scheduled.
  • Complete all paperwork, reports, and charting contemporaneously and in an organized manner.
  • Is familiar and maintains compliance with applicable Minnesota Statues or rules, including, but not limited to Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults, Duty to Warn, Minnesota Data Practices Act.
  • Maintain a pattern of regular work hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree behavioral science or related fields; and
  • 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in the behavioral sciences or related field.
  • Supervisory and program management experience.
