* First shift, Monday-Friday work only
Job Duties:
- Troubleshoots and repairs existing systems.
- Installs, wires, and mounts avionics systems and accessories in aircraft.
- Receives customer orders from Avionics Manager.
- Analyzes details of installation.
- Determines overall project solutions and methods.
- Determines correct interface of equipment being installed.
- Pulls appropriate parts.
- Creates or otherwise obtains proper wiring diagrams per specifications.
- Fabricates equipment shelves per customer specifications.
- Fabricates and installs antenna doublers.
- Modifies existing instrument panels or fabricates new panels.
- Properly programs / configures installed equipment.
- Completes configuration sheets and all other paperwork required for FAA approval of the installation.
- Performs final testing using appropriate test equipment.
- Coordinates customer installation projects with various departments to ensure projects are completed within deadlines.
- Maintains effective relationships with management, staff and other departments to deliver high quality service to customers and the organization.
Requirements
Experience and Skills
- Two-year Trade School or Vocational Degree in Avionics or equivalent work experience required.
- Prior general aviation experience strongly preferred, but not required.
- Three years’ minimum related experience in installation and/or avionics technician work in the aviation industry preferred.
- Knowledge of FAA certification processes, including parts, repair processes, drawings, and all applicable compliance requirements.
- Able to make proactive service decisions and move forward with projects based on available information; able to think analytically and select a solution from many alternatives.
- Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office, Word, Excel, Internet. Able to learn and utilize all available Wipaire software packages.
- Able to meet FAA regulatory and safety requirements in all aspects of the work.
- Able to maintain high quality standards and attention to detail in all facets of the work. Able to maintain utilization and efficiency standards.
- Able to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work in a fast-paced environment. Able to work unsupervised, make moderate level decisions independently, and solve problems effectively and creatively.
- Able to identify, evaluate, problem solve, and give direction regarding problem resolution for individual issues.
- Hear, speak and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.
- Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for tool, installation and computer equipment use and to review detailed diagrams, specifications, regulations, and information.
- Kneel, bend, squat, reach, and lean several hours throughout the day while performing installations.
- Lift equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Climb ladders while performing avionics installations on aircraft.
- Move around the shop area repeatedly throughout the day.
- Use finger and hand dexterity in using hand tools to perform installations.
- Comply with drug testing requirements in compliance with federal regulations.
