Pay: $53,000-58,000 annually, depending upon experience

Schedule/Location:

  • Full Time, ~40 hours/week
  • Remote capabilities: This is a hybrid role. The person in this position will have the opportunity to work remotely for part of their time. Access to reliable internet, ability to prioritize work independently, and foster relationships while working in a hybrid (remote and in-person) environment required. Must live in or have easy access to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and be available for frequent face-to-face interactions in Minneapolis/St. Paul and greater Minnesota regions. This role's main office is our Golden Valley, MN location.

Job Purpose:   As a creative and collaborative professional with exceptional writing skills, you are responsible for using direct response channels and strategies to build long-term, sustainable financial support for AHS. You are part of the strategic planning process for multi-channel campaigns, an excellent written storyteller, and are a general copywriter, focusing largely on writing direct mail and print materials for philanthropy.

What you will be doing:

Strategy –  Research and implement innovations in writing for fundraising, engagement, and marketing. Coordinate and produce exceptional multi-channel communications necessary to meet revenue goals, acquire, retain and upgrade donors. Understand and commit to the requirement of excellence, continuous improvement, and department and organizational goals.

Relationship Building –  Partner with teams across the organization to build a strong understanding of AHS programs, initiatives, and campaigns.

Communication –  Write and edit strong donor-centric messages for communications, solicitations, and acknowledgements for  channels. Serve as member of the editing team. Ensure communication is consistent with brand standards and organizational messaging. Listen, pay attention and be a responsible steward of information.

Project –  Act as project manager with outside vendors for products and services required for donor solicitation and stewardship; coordinate with colleagues within and outside the Annual Giving team as needed. Develop, plan, and coordinate multi-channel fundraising campaigns and stewardship strategies and analyze and share results.

Support – Work closely across Advancement to develop and support departmental goals. Serve as a member of the story scout team and content teams. Serve as content producer for other Advancement writing assignments, including special event content, capital campaign content, and other requests as needed. Support the success of Animal Humane Society’s annual philanthropic events, including serving as content producer and speech writer.

Work with AHS volunteers in a positive and effective way to advance the mission of AHS and facilitate meaningful volunteer engagement

Requirements

What we are looking for:

Experience –Minimum of two years of experience planning and writing for fundraising or marketing.

Computer Skills – Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Adaptability – Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations.

Communication — Excellent interpersonal skills and persuasive and strategic communication skills; must have ability to work as a member of the team and partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments.

Physical & Emotional Capabilities – Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of euthanasia.
