Substitute Teacher Pool (SY24-25)

What You’ll Do

As a Substitute Teacher at Veritas Prep, you'll be part of a robust pool of educators interested in providing classroom coverage for both short- and long-term assignments. You will teach and support students in grades 9-12 in a variety of subject areas, either in-person at our high school location. You'll receive paid training and professional development on Veritas policies and procedures, and guidance from experienced educators around providing rigorous instruction and supporting social-emotional and academic success for all scholars.

The Substitute Teacher role is great for

• newly graduated education students or people new to the teaching field who want to get more experience and training under their belt before taking on a classroom of their own,
• people with teaching or tutoring experience who want to teach on a part-time, on-call basis,
• current college juniors, seniors, or graduate students who are available during the school day,
• or retired educators looking to jump back into teaching on a limited basis

Requirements

What You’ll Need (Qualifications)

• An unwavering belief that all students can achieve amazing things
• A passion for feedback and growth as an educator
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, Associate's or completion of two full years in college required
• Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment

About Veritas Prep

Veritas Prep Charter School (VPCS) was founded in Springfield in 2012 with the mission to prepare students in grades 5-8 to compete, achieve, and succeed in high school, college, and beyond. VPCS now serves more than 370 Springfield students and is one of Massachusetts’ top-performing middle schools. Building on the success of VPCS, Friends of Veritas Prep partnered with the Holyoke Public Schools, launching Veritas Prep Holyoke (VPH) in 2018 as part of Holyoke’s innovative turnaround efforts.
