Role Summary:
Responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and disposing of assigned claims. Such assignments are non-routine, moderate in complexity, and sensitive requiring significant experience and background.
Key Duties & Accountabilities:
Responsibilities:
- Investigates all assigned claims following established policies and procedures.
- Coordinates with company personnel and outside parties including lawyers, clients, expert witness, etc. To evaluate claims for proper disposition.
- Prepares all documentation for the files and disseminates relevant information to appropriate parties.
- Remains current and applies industry best practices, techniques, trends, law, and precedents.
- Effectively utilizes technology to maximize efficiency, productivity, results, and communication within the department and with clients.
- Participates, often together with Loss Prevention personnel, in programs and interventions designed to reduce Professional Liability Risk at insured institutions.

Primary Contacts:
Seeking and providing non-routine or difficult to understand information outside of the department or to clients/members, requiring discussion and interpretation. Interfaces regularly with outside organizations, insured clinicians, SMEs, legal counsel, and institutional leaders.
People Management:
No direct people management responsibilities.
Shared Impact:
Works on portfolio of claims/cases with high degree of complexity across all lines of coverage.
Latitude/ Freedom to Act:
Works independently with general direction and supervision.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge, Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5-10+ years’ experience in liability claims handling or professional liability law required.
- Ability to travel locally to meet with and support insureds and various litigation activities
