Who You Are:
Museum of Ice Cream is looking for our next Shift Manager, Retail to join our fun-filled team. You are thoughtful and ambitious, confident in leading a team full of joy ambassadors, performers, actors, and foodies. To be considered for this role, you are a hospitality and experience lover and truly understand the power of imagination and connection! You need a background in operations, inventory management and people. You take great pride in delivering a memorable guest experience and maintaining a seamless operation.
What You Will Do:
The Shift Manager, Retail will lead for retail, merchandising and inventory related items as well as operating the museum. You will work to maintain floor operations and retail inventory and merchandising organization, as well as communicate updates— including those involving retail to the team—and be a great example for running the floor. Additionally, the shift manager should be an expert in role-modeling our site's hospitality positions, and be able to assist guides in providing an excellent guest experience. The Shift Manager will work with other management team members professionally and constructively to ensure our operations are meeting the goals of our organization.
Your Day-to-Day:
PEOPLE
- Work closely with Museum Management team and the Supply Chain leader on all retail related functions
- Contribute to planning retrains and culture initiatives for the team
- Provide support to Experience Leads and Managers, as well as line staff, adhering to established policies
- Attend and actively participate in weekly operations and manager meetings, offering insights on events and museum that are related to retail
- Ensure adherence to opening and closing protocols by the team
PRODUCT
- Responsible for the upkeep and communication regarding ordering for retail products
- Responsible for “running the floor” during service, this includes guiding and coaching the team, solving guest complaints, and ensuring that we are providing excellent service in a hospitality environment
- Guide and coach the team, address guest complaints, and ensure excellent service delivery
- Ensure compliance with hospitality and scripts, retail and operations manuals
- Take ownership of retail planning and execution for internal events and those organized by the sales team
- Support the training of Guest Experience Specialists (GES) for floor and sales execution
- Monitor guest satisfaction and take appropriate action to enhance the museum's performance
- Have proficiency in the point of sale system and process for restocking of retail items
- Conduct daily walk-throughs to inspect the condition and cleanliness of the museum space and equipment
PROFITABILITY
- Conduct a monthly inventory count of all retail and experience items at the end of each month
- Monitor and establish accountability for all incoming and outgoing inventory
Requirements
The Necessities:
- Retail and inventory experience
- Patient, intuitive, honest, and kind to all
- Food Handler / ServeSafe certification required
- TIPS or equivalent alcohol training certification required
- You have 2+ years of management experience with a physical consumer-facing unit
- You are highly-organized and have a history of providing exceptional customer service
- Technology proficient (Able to confidently navigate Google Drive, Microsoft Office, POS systems, and comfortable teaching these systems to others)
The Nice-to-haves:
- Degree in retail, finance, marketing or hospitality, or equivalent work experience
- Background in hospitality, theater, acting or related industry

Pay: $60,000 - $65,000
