Job Summary
The RN Nurse Educator/Infection Control Nurse is responsible for identifying and providing ongoing training, coaching and education for all employees. The role is responsible for the ensuring all employees are provided a robust education program throughout the course of employment that enables them to master and demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties. Specifically ensuring that new employees are oriented to hospital policies and procedures, department managers orient and adequately train the employees in their respective departments, and all employees receive on-going training and education that meets regulatory requirements. This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining a quality infection prevention and control program & policies, as well as conducting surveillance actives and reports, within the healthcare setting for patients' and employees' health. Audits charts collects and measures data required for monitoring quality indicators.
Essential Duties Includes but are not limited too:
- Maintains current knowledge of state and Joint Commission regulatory requirements.
- Review and evaluate training programs for compliance with CMS, JCAHO, BMH and other regulatory standards.
- Works closely with Human Resources to deliver and track new hire and on-going training programs that ensure that all employees are able to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and competencies.
- Identify and assess future and current training needs through job analysis, career paths, and annual performance appraisals.
- Develop an overall or individualized training and development plan that addresses needs and expectations
- Deploy a wide variety of training methods, testing and evaluation procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate training program’s effectiveness, success and ROI periodically and report on them.
- Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices.
- Participates in hospital committees and reports relevant information to hospital staff.
- Maintains training records and documentation.
- Conduct or arrange for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for staff members.
- Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.
- Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
- Monitor Infection prevention and control activities and programs within the organization to make sure we are in compliance with all regulations.
- Support the CNO and DON with additional nursing department responsibilities as needed.
Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (WBHH) provides psychiatric stabilization and dual diagnosis treatments for Children, Adolescents and Adult populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our goal is to ensure patients and their loved ones feel comfortable and are well informed regarding treatment options.
We are conveniently located in Westborough near the intersection of Route 495 and Route 9.
Requirements
Education and/or Licensure
- Associate or Degree Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
- Valid Massachusetts RN license in good standing required.
- Must be 21 years old or older.
- CPR and CPI Certifications (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
- CIC License (Must be able to obtain within 30 days of hire).
Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a behavioral healthcare environment preferred.
- Infection Control Certification preferred
- 2-3 Years experience as a Nurse Educator required
- Experience as a Nurse Manager preferred but not required
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with infection control methods
- Minimum of two years’ experience working in an occupational health or employee health setting
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
